The development of Songshan Lake High-Tech Zone has always aligned with national strategies. After more than 20 years of construction, it has achieved a transformative leap-from an industrial park to a national high-techzone, and then to the Pilot Zone of the GBA Comprehensive National Science Center.
In 2001, the CPC Dongguan Municipal Committee and Dongguan Municipal Government launched the construction of Songshan Lake Science and Technology Industrial Park, marking the start of the park’s development.
In 2010, approved by the State Council, it was upgraded to a National High-TechIndustrial Development Zone, officially joining the ranks of national key development zones.
In 2015, it was approved for the construction of the PRD National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, becoming a core carrier for regional innovation-drivendevelopment.
In 2020, together with Shenzhen Guangming Science City, it was designated as the Pilot Zone of the GBA Comprehensive National Science Center, elevating its status to a key component of the national innovation strategy.
