On March 2, unveiling and agreement signing of major projects of Guangdong Medical University in the Songshan Lake Science City took place to further strengthen cooperation between university and local government. These efforts are aim to fully leverage the resource advantage of Guangdong Medical University and support the construction of the pilot of comprehensive national science center in the Greater Bay Area (Songshan Lake Science City).

Establish the pillars of the Songshan Lake Science City to formulate a whole-chain technology innovation ecology
During the address round, Ouyang Nanjiang elaborated on the development of Songshan Lake. He expressed that Songshan Lake will be guided by the construction of the pilot of comprehensive national science center in the Greater Bay Area (Songshan Lake Science City), reinforce the central position of innovation in development and accelerate concentration of high-end innovation factors such as first-class enterprises, institutions, universities and talents to establish the pillars of the Songshan Lake Science City and formulate a whole-chain technology innovation ecology. These efforts will allow Songshan Lake to pursue innovation-driven development from a higher standing point.

Ouyang Nanjiang expressed that research-oriented universities will constitute an important part of the scientific functions of the Songshan Lake Science City. It is hoped that Guangdong Medical University will bring its advantages in disciplines and talents into full play and deepen cooperation in innovation with research institutes and enterprises to drive organic alignment of the education chain, talent chain, innovation chain and industrial chain. At the same time, the industrial park’s development capacity of medical and health services should be enhanced to jointly build high-level public hospitals and fix the industrial park’s shortcomings in medical and health services. Through full integration into the development and construction of the Songshan Lake Science City, common progress can be achieved in self-development and improvement of social services.
Ouyang Nanjiang also extended sincere invitation to fellows, experts and scholars to conduct scientific research in Songshan Lake Science City and contribute suggestions for development of Songshan Lake.

Lu Jinghui expressed in his speech that , as one of the earliest universities settled in Songshan Lake, Guangdomg Medical University will seize the historic opportunities presented by the construction of Songshan Lake Science City and make full use of its advantages in talents, technologies, medical services, platforms and other aspects based on the major needs of the country’s development strategy and people’s life health. It will add new momentum to the construction of the Songshan Lake Science City by focusing on cutting-edge basic research in the field of life science, seeking breakthrough in critical technologies and nurturing high-level innovation platforms.

On the same day, Guangdong Medical University signed strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Spallation Source Science Center and Dongguan University of Technology respectively, and framework agreement on industry institute with Guangdong Hongshanhu Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Shenzhen YHLO Biotech Co., Ltd., Dongguan Labway Clinical Laboratory Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen Lifotronic Technology Co., Ltd.

Exchanges across different fields to seek complementarity and push forward innovation and development in medical research
In the Guangdong Medical University Songshan Lake Science City Medicine-Industry Cooperation Industry-Education Integration Innovation Forum, experts made special report on such topics as “Technology of digital medicine and exploration of application”, “China Spallation Neutron Source”, and “Marine natural products research cases and development trend”.

Chen Heshang elaborated on the current development and research projects of China Spallation Neutron Source and said, “as an essential part of the pilot of comprehensive national science center in the Greater Bay Area, the most important task of Songshan Lake Science City is to resolve the bottlenecks facing the country’s key areas in development of science and technology.”
He pointed out that it is expected that after signing the strategic cooperation framework agreement between the Spallation Source Science Center and Guangdong Medical University, the two sides will continue strengthening exchanges and cooperation in relevant research and experiment work to promote innovation and development of China’s research in medicine.
Lu Jinghui expressed that the signing of strategic cooperation framework agreement among Guangdong Medical University, the Spallation Source Science Center and Dongguan University of Technology is of great significance to sharing of resources, complementarity of advantages, medicine-industry integration, and joint building and win-win results. It also established a bridge for close cooperation in major projects, technology breakthrough, information services and technology incubation.
In addition, he believed that closer cooperation between university and enterprises is beneficial to utilization of talents from universities to provide intelligence support for enterprises and resolve their development bottlenecks, and accelerate settlement of universities’ research projects.
