Walking into the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center on the first floor of Institute of Science and Technology Innovation ofDongguan University of Technology, you will see that a row of equipment resembling Smart Teller Machine is neatly arranged in the exhibition hall.
But here, these machines are not used tosave or withdrawmoney, but to guide the entrepreneurs who come here to learn how to promote the transformation and upgrading of industrialsmart manufacturing step by step.

From using 3D simulation to analyze product design, to usingautomated monitoring to realize the digitization of workshop manufacturing quality, and tousing quality management software to perform quality analysis, the center provides guidance and servicesthroughout the whole ecological chain for enterprises to the greatest extent, and even shows some special samples such as Mechatronics Concept Designer(MCD).
"You can seeeach piece of equipment as a link in the entire process. We use Siemens' entire smartmanufacturing process as a model. The visiting business representatives can decide whichlinks they would like to knowmore about based ontheir needs,"said Gao Zhihong, Director of the Office of SmartManufacturing Innovation Center.

In March this year, Dongguan University of Technology officially established the Greater Bay Area SmartManufacturing Industrial Internet Platform, of which the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center is an important component.
Specialized in smart manufacturing technology and engineering, this smart manufacturing innovation center jointly constructed by Dongguan University of Technology and Siemens will carry out research on key technologies at the forefront of smartmanufacturing, formulate relevant standards, and lead the development ofsmart manufacturing disciplinesthrough the integration of education, technology and industrial economy.
"We not only provide industrial cloud platform services for SMEs, but also assist them in cultivating high-quality practicaltalents in smart manufacturing, so as toaccelerate the transformation and upgrading of local manufacturing industries,"said Gao Zhihong.
Smart Robots
In addition to the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center, the Robot and Intelligent Equipment Innovation Center is also an important component of the platform.
As one of the first major scientific and technological innovation platforms built by Dongguan University of Technology, the center focuses on cutting-edge technologies in the field of robotics and high-end intelligent equipment, and has built a comprehensive cross-disciplinary platform which integrates theoretical research, technology development, performance testing, and talent cultivation. The center will lead the innovativedevelopment of the regional robot and smartequipment industry through the development of scientific and technological industrialinnovation services.

According to Ma Hongwei, the project initiatorand principal of Dongguan University of Technology, the platform will be based on the development of the smartmanufacturing innovation center and robot and intelligent equipment innovation center. Intelligent equipment, measurement and control integration, data communication, decision-making execution and other instruments and equipment will be fully utilized tohelp build anindustrial Internet demonstration platform that can work as a model domestically and exertinternational influence. It will be made into an important innovation platform supporting the development of an international science and technology innovation center in the Greater Bay Area.

"We will carry out research onGuangdong-Hong Kong-Macao joint industrial Internet intelligent cloud platform, industrial big data and industrial AI innovation center, as well as multi-level industrial Internet information security system," said Ma Hongwei.
In the future, the platform will acton the "Outline of the National Fourteenth Five-Year Plan"to build a full-chain system for the transformation of scientific and technological achievementsthrough the integration of first-class industrial resources and innovative resources in the field of industrial big data, so as topromote the innovation and development of thesmart manufacturing industry in the Greater Bay Area, improve safety capabilities, and promote the developmentof industrial ecology.
