Songshan Lake, located at the geometric center of Dongguan and with a total planned control area of 103 square kilometers, boasts convenient transportation. Internal road traffic is well-developed. Dongguan-Shenzhen Expressway runs through the northern industrial area from north to south , with two entrances/exits (Songshan Lake Entrance/Exit and Shida Road Entrance/Exit) stationed inside, and Changping-Humen Expressway is adjacent to the southern part, also with two entrances/exits (Songshan Lake Entrance/Exit and Dalingshan Entrance/Exit) stationed inside. The Panyu-Dongguan Expressway under construction will adjoin to the northern part. In addition, a number of traffic arteries including Guanchang Road section of G107 National Highway, Guanlong Road section of S120 Provincial Highway, Guanhui Road section of S357 Provincial Highway, Shida Road, Songshan Lake Avenue and Ecological Park Avenue run inside and around Songshan Lake.
Songshan Lake, situated in the hinderland of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong golden corridor, is about 30 minutes', 1.5 hours', 2 hours' and 2.5 hours' drive to Shenzhen Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Hong Kong Airport and container terminal , Zhuhai Airport respectively. With respect to railway traffic, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway and Beijing-Jiulong Railway(Dongguan East Railway Station) are readily available. It only takes 15 minutes by car from Songshan Lake to Dongguan East Railway Station. Dongguan Rail Transit Line R1 and Line R3 under construction both will run through Songshan Lake. The section between Daojiao Station and Xiaojinkou Station of the Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity Railway was officially opened to the public on December 28, 2017 and has set up the Songshan Lake North Station inside Songshan Lake.
