Songshan Lake adheres to the principles of ecological priority and green development, practicing the construction concept of “technology harmonizing with mountains and waters, the new city and industry developing together.”Amid intensive development, it preserves an intact ecological foundation, creating a unique urban landscape of “the lake within the city, the city within greenery.”It has been successively recognized with several national-level titles, including National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction, National Urban Wetland Park, and National Green Industry Demonstration Base.
Ecological Background
The park boasts 8 square kilometers of lake surface, 7.1 square kilometers of wetlands, and 14 square kilometers of ecological green space. It has built 226 kilometers of ecological greenways, with a greening coverage rate exceeding 60%. The per capita green space is 6.8 times the national standard, and the negative ion content over the lake surface is 10 times higher than the "clean air" standard set by the World Health Organization, making it a rare ecological oasis in the central urban area of the Greater Bay Area. The area is rich in flora and fauna, with continuously improving ecological environment quality, and Songmu Mountain Reservoir has been recognized as an outstanding case of the Guangdong Provincial "Beautiful Rivers and Lakes" initiative.
